COOPERATIVE FUND-RAISING DINNER/AUCTION, FEBRUARY 21, 2011

PARTICIPATE in the Louisiana Learns fund-raising dinner and auction to be held at the Shanghai Place Chinese Restaurant at the corner Florida Blvd. and North Donmoor Avenue in Baton Rouge on Monday, February 21, 2011, from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm.

This fun, lively event is planned for 200 adults who will like socializing with other community-minded folk, enjoying a good Chinese buffet together with wine, and participating in both silent and live auctions.

Advance purchase tickets are $20 ($23 at the door), which will cover all costs of the dinner.

Opportunities for YOU and YOUR ORGANIZATION to benefit include:

  • DONATIONS: One-half the proceeds from the sale of the items or services YOU donate will be split between YOUR ORGANIZATION and Louisiana Learns. Appropriate auction items will include merchant gift certificates, signed sports memorabilia, art or other collectables, sit-down dinners, backyard barbeques, use of vacation or time-sharing property, or just those unopened Christmas gifts you don’t want.

  • PURCHASES: One-half of the proceeds from each item YOU purchase will be split between Louisiana Learns and YOUR ORGANIZATION.
EXAMPLE: George from Organization A donates an item that sells for $100. Mary from Organization B is the winning bidder. One-fourth of the sale price, or $25, goes to George’s Organization A because George donated the item, and one-fourth of the sale price, or $25, goes to Mary’s Organization B because Mary was the winning bidder and purchased the item. The other half goes to Louisiana Learns for the LAWRET™ Program.

By the way, neither Mary’s nor George’s affiliated organization needs to have adopted the Cooperative Dinner/Auction as a formal fund-raiser.  As a matter of fact, these organizations may learn about the Louisiana Learns dinner/auction fund-raiser by receiving a nice thank-you letter and check from Louisiana Learns, Inc. during the week following the dinner/auction.
